A carpet washer is something that no home owner should be without. It can save you a lot of money over the years, especially when you consider how expensive it is to hire a company to come in and wash your carpets for you. Carpet washers range in price from £50 for a portable entry level bissell model all the way up to and in some cases well over £250 for various Vax models.
So How Exactly Do Carpet Washers Work?
The process is actually very similar to how clothes are washed. While the best carpet washer will most likely be a wet model, they do offer models that actually clean your carpet without getting it wet, however we’ll cover that in another post. The wet models work by spraying out a shampoo like chemical into your carpet that needs a bit of time to soak in and work itself into the carpet, then you actually vacuum your carpet with the 
carpet washer, while this happens it sprays out water to help dilute the soap and then when you go back over it a second time it sucks the water, dirt and soap out of the carpet. Leaving you with an amazingly clean carpet.
Why Did My Carpet Get Dirty So Fast After Using A Carpet Washer?
This is a really common question and the answer will probably surprise you. It’s one of two things really and the first is simple. Do you walk around bare foot a lot? If so then it’s the natural oils from your feet that are making the carpet dirty. Most likely however you didn’t go slow enough when you were sucking the shampoo out of the carpet. When this happens the left over shampoo that’s still in the carpet can get sticky and actually attract more dirt, making your carpet dirty even faster which in turn requires you to haul out the carpet washer again to do another round of cleaning.
Will Carpet Washers Clean The Extra Dirty Spots?
If you’ve got a few spots around your carpet that are extra dirty of are obvious that something has been spilled like pop it’s important to spot clean those ahead of time as most carpet washers won’t be able to completely remove the stain. This can be done with some general carpet cleaning 
spray, water, and paper towel or rag. Simply spray some water and carpet cleaner down and then dab repeatedly to draw the stain out. It’s important to remember not to rub the stain as that can push the stain farther into the carpet.
